VECTRAN BREAKER - Vectran is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fibre modelled on nature. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid-crystalline polymer (LCP). It is spun from the melted liquid polymer Vectra and processed into a multi-strand thread. Like spider silk, Vectran has enormous tear resistance at very low weight - exactly the right properties for a premium Continental bicycle tire puncture protection insert. A Vectran Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than a comparable nylon breaker, without adversely affecting rolling resistance.
