The 86 mm long blade is made of popular 8Cr13MoV steel hardened to 57-59 HRC. The steel used has good corrosion resistance and hardenability comparable to AUS6. The 8Cr13MoV steel blade will be great for everyday use due to its corrosion resistance, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening, for which a pocket whetstone is completely sufficient.

The wide drop-point profile blade has a matte sandblasted finish, which does a good job of masking any scratches or abrasions to the blade from use. Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, concave grind and a cutting edge with a gentle curve, the knife has good cutting qualities and will perform well in simple, everyday tasks. The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.

The blade is unfolded with one hand using a double-sided peg, which allows both right- and left-handed people to operate the knife comfortably. The unfolded blade is locked with a liner-lock mechanism. The steel locking bar provides a high level of safety, and its operation is very intuitive and convenient. A reliable lock is an important element calling for the functionality and safety of the folding knife.

The handle of the knife is formed by liners made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon. The profiled shape of the grip, the finger undercut and the oval grooving, make the knife secure and comfortable in the hand despite the tucked accessories. The Kershaw Select Fire has a folding screwdriver (with gauge) for interchangeable bits, and a handle that holds 4 bits: 2 flat bits, and 2 Phillips bits. Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by a spring clip (which can be flipped to the other side).
