The Kershaw Dividend 1812OLCB is a lightweight folding knife, with a composite steel head, an aluminum handle and a SpeedSafe mechanism to assist the blade unfolding.
The Dividend 1812 model can be simply described as a more handy, more convenient to carry version of the Link 1776 knife, but with the same functionality and comfort of use.
Composite steel
The first thing that draws our attention to the Kershaw Dividend 1812OLCB is the distinctive toothed line along the blade where the two grades of steel are joined.
The 75 mm long blade is made of a patented composite steel, a kind of hybrid consisting of the German Bohler N690 hardened in the range of 58-60 HRC (upper part of the blade) and chrome steel D2 (cutting edge).
Contrary to the standard stainless steel containing 13% chromium, the content of this element in N690 is 17%, which results in a much higher resistance to corrosion. After hardening, the steel obtains a hardness in the range of 58-60 HRC, thanks to which the blade has adequate strength and stiffness.
The highly hardened D2 tool steel used in the lower part is distinguished by very high hardness and wear resistance. For the user, this means a long sharpness and wear resistance.
The blade is finished with the sandblasting method, which well masks minor scratches and abrasions caused during use.
The wharncliffe blade has an almost straight cutting edge, a concave cut and a durable tip, so the cut is smooth, and the knife will be perfect as part of our edc.
Comfort of use
The blade can be conveniently unfolded with one hand using a flipper, thanks to which, after taking it out of the pocket, the knife is immediately ready for work.
This solution is convenient for both right and left-handed users, it also allows for comfortable use of the knife with gloves.
Easy to unfold
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe support mechanism. When you press the pinball blade, the support mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Blade lock
After unfolding the blade, it is securely locked with the liner-lock mechanism. The steel blockade strip ensures a high level of security, and its operation is very intuitive and convenient. A reliable lock is an important element that calls for the functionality and safety of a folding knife.
Aluminum grip
The handle of the knife is made of 6061-T6 anodized aviation aluminum cladding, which are attached to steel liners, which are responsible for the rigidity and strength of the structure. An element that undoubtedly catches the eye of every enthusiast of knives is the olive color of the linings.
The anodized coating is resistant to fading, scratching and abrasion, which guarantees an attractive appearance of the knife for a long time. The profiled shape of the handle and fine texturing make the knife very secure in the hand, and its use is very comfortable.
In the rear part of the handle there is a hole for attaching a decorative paracord tail, which makes it easier and faster to remove the knife from the pocket. Discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket is possible thanks to a profiled clip that can be mounted in up to 4 positions.
