The Benchmade 15002 HUNT is a large hunting knife for skinning and working in the field , equipped with a massive CPM-S30V powder steel blade , a handle made of stabilized wood and a natural leather sheath.
Solid build
The Benchmade 15002 HUNT is a large fixed blade (fixed blade) with a full tang construction .
Knives made of one piece of steel (full mandrel) are resistant to damage and breakage, so they are commonly used for heavier ones by hunters, survival and bushcraft enthusiasts and soldiers.
Premium grade steel
The knife has a fixed blade, 107 mm long , made of American CPM-S30V stainless steel.
S30V powder steel by Crucible Industries is hardened to an optimal hardness of 58-60 HRC , thanks to which it maintains high sharpness for a long time, has adequate mechanical strength, and is also resistant to corrosion.
Due to the high content of vanadium carbides, the steel is distinguished by high toughness and abrasion resistance, as well as excellent cutting properties. Therefore, due to the high hardening properties and the specificity of CPM-S30V steel, we recommend using diamond stones for sharpening.
When choosing a hard steel knife, you should get a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very laborious and ineffective.
The wedge has a matte stonewashed finish (bathing in abrasive stones), which effectively masks any scratches or abrasions on the blade caused during use.
Blade for the hunter
The wide, flat-cut blade has a clearly rounded belly , which, combined with the usable drop point profile, ensures excellent cutting parameters and high resistance to damage .
Transverse milling has been made on the back and front part of the spine, creating a stable point of support for the fingers . This simple convenience allows for comfortable and accurate knife handling , which is crucial for the hunter when gutting the game.
The larger size of the blade and the 3 mm thick blade mean that Benchmade 15002 HUNT can also be used for other outdoor applications, e.g. bushcraft and survival .
Classic grip
The element that is responsible for the comfort of using the knife is, of course, its handle.
The knife has stylish, stabilized wood facings attached to the shank with screws .
The wood stabilized during processing is soaked with resin, which provides better material stability, high hardness, resistance to water, changes in humidity and temperature, and the action of many solvents and acids.
The handle has a beautiful brown and black grain, which perfectly emphasizes the hunting character of the knife.
The stable grip of the knife is guaranteed by the profiled shape of the handle and the scaly ribbing of the top part of the shank . In the rear part of the grip there is a hole for a strap or paracord.
Leather sheath
A natural leather sheath, closed with a metal snap, is used to safely carry the knife at the belt.
